Dear companies

I work a lot with computers, I fix them when something went wrong or upgrade them when something will go wrong. Often, I'm asked to install antivirus software so the computer is secured afterwards. How much I love the idea behind the software, every damn piece of antivirus sucks.

I don't need a memory or CPU consuming piece of junk that infects my computer to the kernel, just like millions of other people I just want an application that can scan on demand and can be turned off. Something with more than four configuration options, an option to turn it off when you start up your computer (Norton needs to be manually removed out of the registry if you want to block it). I also don't need anything that will scream "ZOMG WORM" on every webpage when I know my browser is upgraded and the leak has been removed.

So, please, create something for a change that fixes things instead of damaging the host. I recently put Avast Antivirus on an older computer (2.2 GHz, 512mb RAM), which I still consider reasonable specs. That computer now needs around ten minutes to boot up, twenty seconds to open Firefox and the scan takes three days, for 25GB of files.
