Notepad++ is just better
Having professionnaly wrecked my Linux box, I'm on Windows again, too lazy to fix it. Luckily, there are programmers who understand the need for a good editor, without all the extra shit you'll use once to play with it. Syntax highlighting in Notepad++ is the best I've ever seen in an editor, whatever language you program in. The colors also don't burn your eyes out (exit: Microsoft Script Editor), which is a nice little extra of course.
So, when you're on Windows, you better use Notepad++. When on Linux, well, ... I'm not gonna say anything since this has always been some hot topic and I don't want my house burned down by a bunch of angry protesters.
but we all know gedit is the best

I would rather use Editplus,lol
Would not
I disagree, I have never found a better editor than EditPad Pro. It’s not free >.< but you an use the ‘Evaluation’ version indefinitely (same as Pro apart from lack of custom syntax highlighting ability). No other editor lives up to its search feature:

Other editors support regex, but EditPad pro seems to be the only one that doesn’t have an annoying search box instead of the panel.
This isn’t me trying to sell EditPad Pro, it’s me saying, why arn’t there better free editors!
I used EditPad for some time but I couldn’t get along with the “busy” interface. Something I really noticed about this editor discussion/war, is that people stick to one editor because of this one or two neat features. You like EditPad pro because it has an awesome search (it looks awesome indeed :) ), and probally some other things too. I like Notepad because it is stuffed with these neat little features you notice only after some time, like when you double click a piece of text, all occurrences will be highlighted in the document.
Why can’t just one person look at all requests and neat features people love, and combine them into one (free, please) editor?
